Nominations are now open for the Scottish Health Awards 2023. This is the 22nd year of the awards which celebrate those working across NHS Scotland and its partners in delivering high quality health and social care services to the people of Scotland.

We want to know about the people who have genuinely made a difference to your life or to the lives of your family or friends. It might be an individual or a team who have provided outstanding care to their patients or those who are in jobs that normally don't have a high profile and who generally should be recognised for their commitment.

  • Tell us about your healing hero and/or the teams they work in
  • Tell us what they were trying to achieve
  • Tell us what they did that was so special
  • Tell us what difference it made to the person being cared for

The awards were officially launched at the NHS Scotland Event in Glasgow, by Michael Matheson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care, who said:

“These awards not only raise awareness of all our fantastic colleagues who work tirelessly day in, day out across out health and care service, they give us all the chance to say thank you and to express what their contributions mean to each and every individual in Scotland.

“Please take the time to nominate a hero or heroes to thank them for their compassion, expertise, skill and dedication. These awards recognise the contribution of frontline health and social care workers but also celebrate those who work so hard behind the scenes in support roles to ensure we have the kind of health and care services that are vital in achieving the highest quality of care.”

There are sixteen award categories, and this year we are delighted to introduce a brand new category, the Paramedic Award.  This award is for an individual Paramedic or Ambulance Technician who has provided excellent pre-hospital emergency care for patients in Scotland.

This year is also a very special year for the NHS in Scotland, as we mark the 75th Anniversary of the NHS which was founded on 5 July 1948. This year also marks the 75th year of social care services.

We want to take the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of those who have contributed to our NHS in Scotland over its 75 years with the People's Choice 75th Anniversary Award.

The People’s Choice 75th Anniversary Award is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate truly incredible people whose contribution and dedication deserves recognition.

To qualify for entry, our only ask is that they are still currently working in NHSScotland at the time of the Anniversary on 5 July 2023.
